Project Time

Here are the first pics from my trip to Idaho. Dana had a few projects in line to occupy our time and this was by far the biggest. She had wanted to repaint her living/dining/kitchen/entry/hall/stairway since she moved in 2 years ago. The problem was the enormity of the whole thing. We decided to (as President Kimball said) "Just Do It". She chose two wonderful colors, a taupe and a red. It was surely a job but was very rewarding when done.

Here is a little perspective. This is a 10' ladder and the ceiling extends another 6' or 8'.
Here is the before view.
Dana prepping and taping the walls.
We all got into the act. Me!
Carter was a huge help. He painted this whole hall wall himself. Anna seems to be supervising.
Ryan tackles the entry.
Anna takes a brush to the end of the stairway.
Michael took the day off work to help. It never would have gotten finished without him.
Dana did all of the trim around the ceiling. It took muscles, a steady hand and diligence! This handy tool made a world of difference.
Neither Dana nor I wanted to tackle the high shelf so we
"hired" my grand niece Danielle to first vacuum then paint the shelf and wall above the kitchen cabinets. She was a lifesaver and fearless. I couldn't watch; it made me too nervous.

Here is a finished shot of the red accent wall. It turned out very nice and mixes with the taupe walls beautifully. Dana did a great job with the colors. I can happily say we knocked this out in 2 days! We were determined to be done by Friday night and it was after midnight but it was finished.....there is a little touch up but that is for another day. I am thrilled with the results and pleased that I could lend a little help. We had lots of other goings on......but that blog is for another day.
